The Church of St. George the Victorious in Alanya is a peaceful and historical place with roots going back to the 8th century. According to legend, St. George protected the local village from robbers, and a monastery was added nearby in the 13th century. The church was rebuilt in 1873, but later remained abandoned for many years. It wasn’t until 2015 that a full restoration brought it back to life.

Today, the church hosts cultural activities and Christian worship services. One of the main events is the Liturgy, held on the first Sunday of each month.

Inside, the church has a beautifully preserved wooden vault and a choir area featuring an eight-pointed colorful star with the original artwork still visible. Visiting feels like stepping back in time.

How to get there:

Take minibuses No. 5 or No. 7 from Alanya city center and get off at the school stop. Walk around the 3-story pink school on your left and follow the road toward the HIDIR ILYAS sign. Continue for about 2.5 km until the road splits—you’ll see the church from there.
